Weeping Willow Socks
What you need:
100 grams of sock yarn
Size 1 needles
This is a sock ‘recipe’ as opposed to a pattern. This means you get to pick your favorite toe and heel, and simply work the pattern over the foot and leg stitches!
Gauge: 12 stitches by 12 rows measures 1.5 in by 1in tall.
Gauge: 12 stitches by 12 rows measures 1.5 in by 1in tall.
Pattern:
Round 1: *K7, P1* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 2: *K6, P1, K1* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 3: *K5, P1, K2* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 4: *K4, P1, K3* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 5: *K3, P1, K4* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 6: *K2, P1, K5* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 7: *K1, P1, K6* Repeat from *to* till end.
Round 8: *P1, K7* Repeat from *to* till end.
Step 1: Knit your favorite toe! {I like a decently wide toe on my socks, so I use Judy’s magic loop cast on, and start with 14 stitches on each needle. This pattern is written to be worked over 64 or 72 stitches. Simply add or subtract 8 stitches to adapt it to the needed size.}
Step 2: *For this step, only work pattern over Needle 1 (top of foot) stitches. Knit all stitches on Needle 2 (sole).* Knit the pattern until the foot reaches the desired length. *Take note of which round you left off on when beginning the heel*
Step 3: Knit your favorite heel. *I usually use the Fish Lips Kiss Heel, which provides great instructions on when to start the heel!* Step 4: Continue working the pattern on Needle 1. *Start with the round you left off on before knitting the heel.* After working at least one inch of garter stitch on Needle 2, you can begin working the pattern on both needles, if desired.
Step 5: Add the cuff. {My favorite cuff is 2x2 twisted ribbing.} Cast off with a stretchy Bind-off. *I like Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off.*
This pattern can be adapted to cuff dow, simply work the steps from 5 to 1 instead of 1 to 5!
